Makahika Camp Caption

As part as our Literacy contract we drew a scene of our camp site.

First we had to draw a scene of camp.

Then a caption of what we saw at camp.

After all that we glued our drawing to a black card.

Then, after our glew had dried we also glued our caption on to it.

This is my drawing and caption:

It says:
"The beautiful flowing stream with the many slimy eels and all the rocks that hide them as well as all the other beautiful creatures"

CAMP!

As my harness was being clipped on bad thoughts started to rush into my mind. I was nervous. I was terrified. I started to sweat. I was clipped on perfectly. I was safe but bad thoughts were still running through my pounding brain. Now, just walk down the steps. I closed my eyes (I know I shouldn't close my eyes while walking down steps) step by step. I open my eyes to reach for the last step, but my harness was too tight and the next thing I knew was I was soring through the thin air over the river and trees. WOW! What an experience.I swung back off the tyres and swiftly landed.

Problem Solving -

For homework we had two problems to solve. Here are the questions along with some of the different ways the children in TKT solved them.

1. Some octopus (8 arm), some fish and a few mermaids were happily frolicking in a rock pool. Altogether there were 38 arms, 24 eyes and 8 tails all swimming in the pool.
How many mermaids were there?

2. In a class in the school down the road, everyone plays tennis or golf or both. In fact 80% play tennis and 70% play golf. What percentage plays both games?

THE MOMENT

I could slowly feel the nerves creeping up into my body as my name was called. I nervously and anxiously walked up to my lane ready to dive. The blood was rushing through my cold body and my heart was pounding like a elephant stomping ferociously. I put my arms up ready to leap. As they were up, my body started going num. As Mr Parsons was slowly saying "ready set" as I glanced in his shimmering eyes he said "GO!!!!!!!!!".
