The Rumbling Rugby

"And it's a try!" At the moment it is five try's to one. Six try's later, "honkkk!" It's over. Hokowhitu wins eleven one. The next match is College Street vs Hokowhitu. "Honkkk" tackle, pass. It's all up to me. "Kerrrthump!" "Ow!" Try to College Street. The whistle blows "high tackle by College Street". Penalty to Hokowhitu. "Go Isaac go! Hit them hard!" "Boom" Isaac gets a try. They win five one. Our next game we missed out on the final and at the end of the day we came fourth.

Production

Tonight's the night it's Dare to Dream!

Hokowhitu School had an awesome production at Regent Theatre.

The production was based the Olympics. Each class had a different culture and country to dance to. The production was linked together by a group of children having a sleepover and dreaming about being at the Olympics.

The music was fantastic, it made the audience want to get up and dance with us because it was upbeat and energetic. Students had made up dance routines with a Professional Dancer. Each dance had big and self-expressive actions and all the students looked really enthusiastic about their dances. The costumes were colourful, bright and happy and they made the dancers standout on stage. All the outfits were glowing, beautiful and self-made. A special mention has to go to staff and parents who helped make the costumes. TKT's dance was specially outstanding with their African theme and awesome dance moves.

Altogether the show was spectacular and everyone had a whole lot of fun!!!!

Making Tables

"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" the drill is drilling through the brackets into the wood. For Golden Time some people were making tables to go into our classes. Firstly, we had to sand down the table tops. Secondly, we had to sand the base to get all the bark off. Thirdly, we had to figure out where the four brackets would fit then, we had to draw where that was. Fourthly, we had to drill holes in the holes of the bracket. filthy,we had to screw the screws into the bracket holes that we drilled. Finally, we will varnish them next week, then "Bam! Pow!" we have a table.

Making Tables in Golden Time

At Golden Time we did table making. First of all we got the stump. Then we got the table top, it was heavy. Next we connected the heavy stump to the top of the table. Next we made holes in the stump. Then we screwed in the screws in the stump. After all of that we made holes in the top of the table. Finally we screwed the stump and top together. We did a lot of team work. It was beautiful and soft. We enjoyed building the tables.

Cherfull Chinese Langauge Week

Ni hao. In case you haven't noticed, it's Chinese Language Week. The city library is packed with Chinese lamps and posters. My friend Yu Yet, who is from China, taught the class how to pronounce Chinese words. Then that moment "ding!" I had an idea. I was going to teach the class about Chinese writing. I made a poster of the Chinese alphabet. Then I asked Miss Bisset if I could show the class my poster and teach them the Chinese alphabet. She gave me the permison and, at sharing time, I showed the class my poster. The poster had some sentences in Chinese and my name writen in Chinese.

Making lemonade

How to make lemonade.

First we got two lemons each.
Then we cut the lemons and squeezed them into juice.
We all get a cup and Mrs Higgs poured the lemon juice in our plastic cups.
Then we put 2 teaspoons of sugar in the lemonade and stirred the lemonade.
After that Mrs Higgs got some fizzy soda and poured it into our cup until it fizzed over our cups.
And that's how you make lemonade.😀

Zero waste

On Monday the 11 Zero waste came into our school to teach us things like recycling and taking care of the earth. It was a really fun learning experience. After zero waste I know a lot more things about recycling and how it can effect us in different ways. The activities were fun but they also taught us some things we didn't know. So all together it was fun and we learnt heaps of stuff about recycling. THANK YOU ZERO WASTE!!!!!!!!!!! By Paige

PRODUCTION

"OH LA, OH LA" The music is blasting in my ears, almost deafening me. I jump up and wave my arms in the air like a windmill. I jump down again, back into a crouching position. "OH LA, OH LA!" I hear again as the boys jump up and wave their arms. I hear it again one more time and everyone jumps up all together. My heart starts racing in excitement as the audience starts to cheer.
"YOUR ON THE FRONT LINE" a huge smile spreads across my face "EVERYONE'S WATCHING" I search the audience for my families faces, but they are nowhere to be seen. "oh well" I think " at least they can see me. Now it is our time to shine!!

Ricoh Hockey Tournament By Sam

On Friday the 9th of September the Ricoh hockey team went down to the Hockey Manawatu turfs for the Ricoh hockey tournament. When we got there we walked in and the organiser from CSNS invited us upstairs where all the other teams were. The organiser started telling everyone when all the games were and how it was going to work.
Our game was after the first one so we had time to practice. The team went down on to the aqua turf and we started taking hits at goal. Then we started practicing our left to right until our next game started. It was now time to play our first game and we were playing against Russell Street and we won. Then we played CSNS and lost 4:0.We then went back upstairs to have some lunch and our next game we were playing was Riverdale and they got so much goals we couldn't even keep count of the final score. We were now playing for 3rd place and we were playing against Central Normal School. The coach started yelling out to his players to put there stick down, get back and heaps of other stuff. After the exuasting game that we won we went down to the B&M Centre.Once everyone got up there and was sitting down in there lines we got started. They started with hockey and Riverdale came 1st, CSNS came 2nd and Hokowhitu came 3rd.Then suddenly out of nowhere they called my name out for most valuable player so I came up shook hands with a 4 time Olympian and got my prize a drink-bottle.After all the sports had been said it was time to announce the overall school winner and it was CSNS.We then went back to school to go home.By Sam H.
